Lib-Dems shadow cabinet revealed

OLDHAM’S Liberal Democrats have revealed who will make up its council shadow cabinet for the following year.
Councillor Howard Sykes will continue as leader and be the shadow member for strategic projects and external relations (regeneration).
Councillor John McCann will become deputy leader, after Jackie Stanton lost her seat at the elections on May 3, and take up the portfolio for business, skills and town centre.
Lynne Thompson will shadow finance, human resources and strategic partnerships and newly-elected Garth Harkness will shadow the portfolio for co-operatives and community development.
Roger Hindle will take up housing, transport and planning; Mark Alcock will be responsible for neighbourhoods and devolved services on the Lib-Dem cabinet and Rod Blyth will take care of social services and community health.
Education and safeguarding will be down to Diane Williamson.
