Sun shines on the new mayor

Oldham Mayor Councillor Olwen Chadderton on parade.
COUNCILLOR Olwen Chadderton had “the best day of her life” at the mayoral procession.
She took over the prestigious position from Councillor Richard Knowles, gaining her mayoral chain last week following a traditional ceremony.
Yesterday she enjoyed a special service attended by Oldham’s dignitaries at Oldham Parish Church.
She said: “It was an absolutely wonderful day and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
“The weather was amazing and it was just so special, with a lovely service. I’ll never forget it.”
