KING Street in Oldham is to close for two months to make way for essential Metrolink works.
From Wednesday the road will be shut from Manchester Street to Union Street to south-bound traffic.
The closure is to allow utilities diversions to be completed and for construction of the tramway trackslab across the junction, as part of the delivery of Oldham’s new town-centre line.
For the duration of the work, the north-bound King Street bus lane will be closed for its entire length, from Union Street to Barn Street.
Traffic from Barn Street will only be able to turn right on to King Street.
The Olympic torch relay passing through Oldham on June 24 will pass through this section, along with all support vehicles, on its north-bound journey along King Street.
