Roughyeds plea: help us solve vandals nightmare
Date published: 13 June 2012
ROUGHYEDS want ideas from fans and businesses on how to stem vandalism at their ground.
Vandals again attacked their Whitebank Stadium on Monday night, broke into two offices and set fire to one of them, causing extensive damage.
The club is also looking for help with donated materials to carry out repairs.
“The match-day office is just a charred mess,” said distraught club chairman Chris Hamilton. “Until we start the clear-up operation we won’t know whether we can save it.”
Police and forensic experts are investigating.
The club has also reported extensive damage to the perimeter fence at the bottom end of the ground, where the raiders are believed to have broken in.
Mr Hamilton said: “We have repaired that section of fencing several times, but all they do is smash it down again.”
“Without a raft of money to fully secure the whole site it is difficult to know what we can do next. I’m at the end of my tether.”
