Mutilated cows on moor

MYSTERY surrounds the carcasses of more than 20 mutilated cows dumped on the moors above Oldham.
A walker raised the alarm after making the grim discovery on a dirt track on Rishworth Moor yesterday. An investigation has now been launched. The dead animals were found around 9am on a remote path near Windy Hill radio mast close to Denshaw.
Officers from Oldham Council attended the scene along with the police however the land — close to border of Rochdale and Oldham — was deemed to be under the control of Rochdale Council.
A spokesman ensured workers were on the site, close to the junction 22 of the M62, to swiftly remove the carcasses and clear the surrounding area.
