DANGEROUS . . . the work carried out at the Pizza and Potato Factory
A TAKEAWAY owner has been fined for carrying out dangerous construction work.
A Health and Safety Inspector visited the Pizza and Potato Factory, in Yorkshire Street last November following a complaint. The officer found the front of the building in danger of collapse, with bricks left on the pavement and no safety measures.
After another visit the building was found to pose “imminent danger” of collapse, and building control secured the site.
Owner Abbas Sharief of Wigan later admitted undertaking the work without building skills.
Sharief plead guilty to two Health and Safety offences and Oldham magistrates fined him £2,000 for each offence, plus £515 in costs.
