THE Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester and the Bishop of Manchester are holding a special service in Oldham to round off the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The service, at Oldham Parish Church on Sunday, will be the last in a series across Greater Manchester.
It will mark the end of Jubilee celebration on the day the Olympic torch passes through the borough.
As well as the Bishop - the Rt Rev Nigel McCulloch - and Lord Lieutenant Warren Smith, the service will be attended by civic dignitaries, councillors, schools, businesses and volunteers from around the borough. Members of the public will also be able to apply for a place.
Councillor Olwen Chadderton, the Mayor of Oldham, said: “This will be a marvellous event to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and show how Greater Manchester has celebrated throughout the year.”
The service is to start at 3pm but guests are asked to arrive and be seated by 2.30pm for the Mayor’s arrival at 2.40pm and the Lord Lieutenant’s at 2.50pm.
To book a place at the service email nicola.windle@oldham.gov.uk.
