Oldham’s Regional Science Centre.
OLDHAM’S £10 million Regional Science Centre has won a national honour.
The Oldham Sixth Form College building which opened last year scooped an S-Lab (safe, successful and sustainable labs) Award.
It beat Canterbury College, Truro and Penwith College, Halesowen College and Kendrick School in Reading in the schools and colleges category.
The new S-Lab Awards celebrate excellence in lab design, operation and management.
The former empty office block in King Street, Oldham, has been transformed and boasts physics, electronics, physiology, biology and chemistry labs.
Assistant principal Alan Matear said the award was a terrific achievement.
“We are tremendously excited about the science opportunities we are offering to students and pupils alike in what is a truly fantastic facility.
“To have received this recognition is testament to the innovative outreach work we are engaged with here.”
