Log cabins get the green light

LUXURY log cabins in Saddleworth have been approved despite concerns being raised over access to the new camping facilities.
Plans to bring plush cabins and pitches for caravans and tents into a secluded holiday retreat at Nut Bottom, Greenfield, were put on hold last month after councillors felt the proposed entrance would be a “nightmare” for visitors.
Members of Oldham Council’s planning Committee last month suggested an alternative access for vehicles from the bottom of Holmfirth Road, instead of the proposed Bank Lane.
However, a Highway Engineer report now suggests it to be “unacceptable” because of poor visibility and insufficient width on the road. But councillors voted in favour of the revised proposals which developers say would bring in “much-needed tourism” to the area.
