An Oldhan mother has been accused of preparingterrorist acts with her husband after being “radicalised” by extremist Muslim literature on the internet.

Mohammed Sajid Khan was arrested aftr a family fight last June — but a relative later told police of suspicions he was a “home-grown terrorist”.

When police looked into the accusation they discovered his wife Shasta may also have played a role in a plot to make explosives.

Mr Khan (33) – known as Sajid - has pleaded guilty to preparation for acts of terrorism and three charges of possessing information of use to terrorists, his wife denies all four counts.

Bobbie Cheema, prosecuting at Manchester Crown Court, said: Police spoke to Shasta Khan who told them about activities she attributed to her husband - leaving out her own involvement.

Mrs Cheema explained they had both become radicalised over the past couple of years, following their marriage.

She explaind they found material on the internet including an al-Qaeda magazine designed to encourage Muslims to carry out violent holy war, and files of use in planning attacks. The court heard they had made a number of journeys to possible target sites in the Prestwich area - a predominantly Jewish part of the area.

Mrs Cheema said the couple’s path to making an attack was disrupted by a domestic conflict, buut despite Shasta Khan’s allegations against her husband, evidence had since come to light that she was just as involved.

Proceeding.
