Public urged to have their say on parking

COUNCIL chiefs have launched their long-awaited consultation on parking in Uppermill.
Oldham Council wants residents’ views as part of a further investigation into parking restrictions in district centres, which runs until July 9.
Parking in the Saddleworth village has caused controversy with some arguing for restrictions to enable customers to visit but others wanting to be able to park for longer.
Most car parks in Uppermill are currently limited to two or three hours’ parking to maintain a steady turnover of parking spaces.
The council wants public views on the effectiveness of the current arrangements, introduced in February 2011.
