Record-bid pupils say ‘slow down’

HUNDREDS of Oldham primary school pupils attempted to set a new Guinness world record with a hard-hitting message.

Pupils joined more than 100,000 children across the UK in a march to highlight road safety in aid of road safety charity Brake.

The current record for the largest simultaneous walking bus in multiple locations by children stands at 119,697.

The event sets out to encourage drivers to slow down, raise awareness of the dangers of traffic and highlight the positive impact of walking.

Each school, including Fir Bank primary in Royton, Rushcroft in Shaw and St Edward’s RC Primary School in Lees made banners and posters as well as learning chants and songs for the event. Their record attempt has yet to be ratified.
