Briscoe: emaciated
Owner admits cruelty charge
RSPCA inspectors found a dead dog stuffed into a suitcase in the back garden of an Abbey Hills home when they investigated reports of animal cruelty.
Officers found the body of Bruno, a Staffordshire bull terrier, when they searched the house in Tate Street on January 12. They also found Bruno’s severely emaciated mother Briscoe, a brindle cross-breed.
The dogs’ owner, Jason Victory (42), pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal at Oldham Magistrates’ Court.
Bruno died from severe emaciation and dehydration. He had prominent ribs, no body fat and sunken eyes, and was suffering from intestinal parasites and an infection.
Briscoe was also in a poor nutrional state. When food was offered she wolfed it down desperately and kept licking at the bowl long after it was empty.
Victory will be sentenced at Oldham Magistrates’ Court on July 17.
