A new Oldham profile paints a bleak picture of our health and lifestyles.
Profiles help the council and NHS to decide where to offer resources to combat deprivation, cancer, child poverty, road injuries and other problems.
The latest survey shows deprivation, child poverty, smoking - including smoking while pregnant, drug use and alcohol abuse are all still worse than the national average.
Life expectancy remains significantly higher than average, with early death from cancer, heart disease or stroke major causes
Larger numbers of people are diagnosed with diabetes than in many other areas.
In contrast, road deaths and injuries are lower than the England average and there are fewer cases of homelessness and violence than elsewhere. Child obesity is also a smaller problem than in oher boroughs.

HUNDREDS of Oldham residents have pledged to protect children from smoking by supporting the introduction of plain, standardised cigarette packaging which makes smoking less enticing for children.
Oldham has an estimated 43,700 smokers, two thirds of whom started before they were 18.
