Terror-charge couple ‘had bomb components’

A married couple accused of terrorism charges had the main components used to build a home-made bomb and Internet guides on building a bomb in a kitchen.
Shasta and Sajid Khan possessed bleaches, salts and electrical items that could be used to create an explosive device.
Sharon Broom, a forensic investigator with 20 years’ experience of explosives, gave evidence at Manchester Crown Square yesterday at the trial of Shasta Khan, who denies charges of committing an act of terrorism.
She said that if the chemicals found in the house were mixed and put through other processes, they would form crystals that would become a substance commonly used in explosives. But she added there was no evidence in thehouse that such an explosive substance had ever been created there.
Shasta Khan denies all charges, while her husband has pleaded guilty.
The trial continues.
