Jobs to do for those allowed back

BACK home . . . Graham Leecy
Many evacuated residents in Oak Street and Edmund Street were allowed back into their homes on Thursday and Friday.
Graham Leecy had been living in his camper van, which had escaped damage, but the windows of his home weren’t so lucky.
Graham, of Oak Street, was replacing them on Friday morning.
He said: “I was on Victoria Street on a roof when the blast went off. I was looking round and there was smoke coming up.”
APPLICATIONS are now being accepted from residents who need support from the Oldham Distress Fund.
Oldham Council, which set up the fund, has been overwhelmed by public donations to support those affected by the blast.
Staff at the Advice Centre on Farrow Street will help affected residents to complete the application forms for monetary support.
Payments should be granted next week and immediate financial support will be arranged.
Affected residents will need to have registered at the Rest Centre at the Lifelong Learning Centre prior to applications being received.
