Eric Sykes dies, aged 89

OLDHAM-born actor Eris Sykes has died after a short illness, he was 89.
In a wide-ranging career he will be best remembered for the long-running and widely-acclaimed "Sykes and a..." TV series with hattie Jacques.
He also wrote scripts for stars such as Peter Sellers, Frankie Howerd and Stanley Unwin.
He received the CBE from the Queen in 2005 for his services to the entertainment industry.
