THE Mayor meets clean-up workers
THE Mayor of Oldham paid a visit to the site of the Shaw blast to thank those involved with the massive clean up operation.
Councillor Olwen Chadderton spoke to members of the emergency services, many of whom are still in the area clearing debris and making homes safe over a week after the fatal explosion.
The Mayor also visited the nearby Asda store to thank manager Andy Taylor and his staff, who donated a large quantity of goods to those affected by the explosion.
The Mayor’s final visit was to Shaw Lifelong Learning Centre, being used as a temporary rest centre.
