FOOTIE fans can bid to join a host of Latics Legends and soap stars on the pitch at Boundary Park for a charity game in aid of victims of the Shaw blast.
Former players Earl Barratt and Andy Ritchie, current manager Paul Dickov and goalkeeping coach Paul Gerrard will pit their wits against the Once Upon A Smile team on July 29.
Fans can bid for the chance to play alongside their heroes or even manage one of the squads. All proceeds will go to the appeal.
The Once upon a Smile team includes a host of famous actors from soaps such as “EastEnders”, “Emmerdale”, “Hollyoaks”, “Shameless” and “Waterloo Road”, plus ex-professionals and other celebrities. The team regularly raises money for families suffering with the illness or loss of a child.
Failsworth actor and the charity’s co-founder Dan Jillings said: “The recent events have shocked us all and being local we were desperate to set up a game to help those affected. We’re extremely grateful to Oldham Athletic for letting us use the ground.”
The game will kick-off at 2.30pm. Gates open at 12.30pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. A family ticket, for two adults and two children, is £10.
