A CHARITY night in aid of Jamie Heaton’s family raised a staggering £6,500.
Friends, relatives and supporters of the two-year-old’s mum and dad, Michelle and Kenny Heaton, took part in an auction, raffle and tombola at Heyside Cricket Club on Friday. But a cricket match between Heyside and Austerlands was abandoned because of the rain.
Jamie died in the Shaw blast.
A limited edition signed photograph of the Manchester City team celebrating their Premiership title win raised £1,000.
Also sold were signed shirts and other memorabilia from Manchester United, Oldham Athletic and Lancashire Cricket Club. Middleton firm Vitafoam donated £800 and collection buckets were filled on the night.
Organiser Tony Heaton, captain of Heyside Cricket Club, said: “We had a great turn out despite the awful weather and we raised a fantastic amount for Jamie’s family.”
