£100 for a family of five

Date published: 09 July 2012

A FAMILY-of-five who face an uncertain future received an interim payment of £100 from the Oldham Distress Fund.

Nicole and Simon Cunningham, who live in Chancery Lane, weren’t insured — a house move due in March fell through and the policy hadn’t been renewed.

Nicole, who has three young children, said: “I didn’t expect the house down the road to blow up. All our equity is in that house.”

The property, which requires a structural survey, is safe to enter and belongings can be collected.

But the family cannot live there, as there are no amenities.

Nicole says she has “no inclination” if further financial help will be available.
