RUGBY: OLDHAM St Anne’s let a winning position slip, going down 26-24 to Stanningley in NCL Division One.
After opening the scoring in the 13th minute through Jordan Hanley, Jordan Galloway adding the goal, Saints' next came from man-of-the-match Nathan Jewitt, who raced home from halfway with Galloway converting.
With a 12-0 lead at the interval, St Anne’s were pegged back by the side from Leeds when Dean Parker and Tom Sharp crossed, Sean Cooper adding one goal.
Tom Kent put the visitors in front for the first time.
After Saints prop Michael Cadd’s score was ruled out for a forward pass, Adam Benn strolled through for a Stanningley score embellished by Cooper’s goal for a 20-12 lead.
Back came Saints, through tries from David Best and Cadd, Galloway adding a second goal right at the end of normal time.
Saints thought that had wrapped up the game — only for Josh Simpson’s try in the corner and Cooper’s touchline conversion to deny the home team back-to-back wins.
