A 27-YEAR-OLD man faces a “lengthy sentence” for raping a vulnerable pensioner in her own home.
The trial of Wesley Wilson, of Naze Court, Coldhurst, was due to start yesterday at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester — but Wilson pleaded guilty at the 11th hour.
Wilson pleaded guilty to one count of rape, which took palce in January. At an earlier hearing he had pleaded not guilty, claiming the sex was consensual.
His solicitor alleged Wilson had slept with the 75-year-old woman on January 5 - and that she asked him to return two days later to flats in Coldhurst.
But police said Wilson had entered flats and pressed the woman’s door buzzer, claiming he needed to check for work that needed doing. Though she refused to let him in, he got in anyway - and attacked her after going through every room. Neighbours were left shocked by the crime.
Wilson will be sentenced on September 7 and has been ordered to sign the sex offender’s register for an indefinite period. Judge Lewis told Wilson to expect a long prison sentence.
