A RENEWED appeal for witnesses has been made following the Shaw zebra crossing tragedy in January.
Lynn Steele (63) died and her husband Raymond (65) suffered serious head injuries and was left blind in one eye after they were hit by a Toyota Yaris.
They had been crossing Milnrow Road hand-in-hand at 3.30pm on January 16.
Injury lawyer with Fentons Solicitors, Richard Crabtree, is now urging anyone with information to come forward to secure help for the couple’s blind daughter, Sarah.
He added: “The police investigation is ongoing, which means they are unable to release any statements or evidence.
“We urgently need to speak to witnesses ourselves so we can begin the process of securing help for the Steeles’ daughter Sarah. Not only does she have to cope with the loss of her mother, but she is also now faced with looking after her seriously injured father.”
Despite earlier reports to the contrary, Mr Steele’s condition remains very serious and he is likely to need long-term care.
Though the driver stopped at the scene and was interviewed by police, no-one has been charged with any offence.
Mr Crabtree hopes to speak to everyone who had given a statement or can help.
