Pervert made woman’s life hell

A SPURNED man who viciously attacked a woman in an obsessive rage has been jailed for almost 10 years.

Conrad O’Donnell (29), who carried out internet searches for “how to gag someone” and “strongest over-the-counter sedative”, secretly recorded videos of the woman. He even recorded video of himself performing sexual acts in her home.

O’Donnell befriended the woman four years ago and they exchanged phone numbers. Over time he became gradually obsessed with her and pestered the 27 year old to start a relationship, which she repeatedly declined.

Last December O’Donnell, of Oldham Road, Failsworth, got into to her Manchester flat, pushed her and pushed a rolled up sock into her mouth. She screamed and fought him off, but was punched in the face several times, leaving her covered in blood.

O’Donnell ran off and the police called. An hour later O’Donnell called police and admitted the attack.

Police searched the house and recovered the sock and a new set of keys that didn’t belong to the victim O’Donnell’s phone was seized and revealed Internet searches such as “how to kidnap someone” and “how to make a person forget”.

His laptop and memory sticks were seized in a search of his home. Police found photographs of documents and pictures of the victim, plus video clips of her shot secretly. On his computer were two videos of O’Donnell inside the woman’s flat, performing sexual acts. An indecent image was also disovered on the computer.

O’Donnell had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to attempted kidnap, intending to commit a sexual offence, voyeurism, public nuisance and making an indecent image. At Manchester Crown Court yesterday he was sentenced to nine and a half years in jail.

DC Dave Berry, who led the investigation, said: “This woman has suffered enormously as a result of O’Donnell’s actions. I can only hope that seeing him imprisoned for such a long time will give this woman some feeling of justice as she rebuilds her life.”
