Stage set for star talent

Oldham’s “Billy Elliot” star Rhys Yeomans has won a national artistry award at the age of 14.
The entertainer, who played Billy in the London production of Billy Elliot is also now waiting to har in he has won a part in this year’s movie production of “Les Miserables” alongsied Hollywood stars Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman.
Last year, Rhys clinched victory at the English Dance Championships.
Proud mum Jo-Anne said: “He never ceases to amaze me. He is always trying something different.”
His latest in a long list of achievements was to win the senior section of the national Creation Choreographic competition — by improvising the use of goalkeeping gloves.
Organiser Cathy Russell said: “The piece was very inventive and beautifully costumed, with a lot of visual and choreographic interest.”
