A GROUP of bar workers stepped up to the mark to help out Shaw gas blast sufferers.
Staff from the Up Steps Inn organised a fun run from the High Street pub to the Shay Wake in Shaw, raising over £600 for the Distress Fund.
Shift manager Maria Mitchell and Dave Hardy joined in the effort along with a couple of customers whose fancy dress efforts helped boost the fantastic total.
“We called in a few pubs collecting along the way and the support from everyone was brilliant, it really did show the spirit of Oldham and we had such fun doing it,” said Maria.
Kindhearted youngsters braved torrential rain to do their bit for the victims of the blast.
A super seven from Blackshaw Lane Primary School, Royton completed a sponsored run around Hollingworth Lake. Their efforts raised £794.
