CHEERS: Alice Rushton
ALICE Rushton turned 100 today by rounding off a week of celebrations with yet another party to mark the milestone.
Festivities began for Alice, who lives at the Park House Nursing Home in Oldham, at the weekend with a church ceremony filled with her favourite songs.
The proud centenarian, who puts her longevity down to “Christian living”, was then the guest of honour at a family party with around 60 of her loved ones in attendance. Another party was held earlier today at Park House, on Queens Road — complete with a telegram from the Queen — which was the icing on the birthday cake.
Daughter Beryl Farrah said: “It’s been really good. She’s been marvellous — wonderful. She’s just had a great time celebrating.”
Alice was born in Castleton, but lived in Mossley for 35 years.
