REVAMP plan: the Rochdale Road college will see £7 million spent mainly on repairs and refurbishment
OLDHAM College is to get a multi-million-pound facelift— three years after its proposed £70 million overhaul fell through.
The plans to replace large parts of the Rochdale Road campus were halted when the Labour Government’s national college rebuilding programme collapsed in June, 2009.
Now £7 million from the Skills Funding Agency and college reserves will be spend mainly on repairs and refurbishment, with some rebuilding work.
One of the options being considered is re-cladding the main 1960s tower block.
The college also hopes to attract up to another £3 million funding from other sources.
