Anthony’s Aquatwist watering can
AN Oldham student has won a top design award for his clever Aquatwist product.
Anthony Hodson (22), from Royton, came up with the design for a dual-use bucket and watering can. The spout twists back towards the bucket body for water carrying, or out for use as a spray head.
The University of Huddersfield student impressed judges of the Wilkinson Designer of the Year for Product Design award so much, that his innovation will be on shelves in Wilkinson’s stores in 2013.
Included in his prize was £500 and a week-long paid placement at Wilkinson’s — including a stint in Hong Kong.
Inspired by one of his tutors who mentioned the difficulties in shipping watering cans from China, Anthony set to work designing a product that would be stackable and multi-functional.
He said: “ I like to design products that are functional and cost effective, both for the company and the consumer.”
