The life of Brian: professor stars in new book

BRIAN COX; new biography
Oldham-born Professor Brian Cox (44) is the subject of an unauthorised biography by Buckinghamshire journalist Ben Falk.
“The Wonder of Brian Cox” is available online and in bookshops now. Ben (35) previously the Press Association’s Los Angeles correspondent, now teaches journalism at London Metropolitan University.
He said: “I thought Brian Cox had such a varied and interesting life. His story is much more interesting than your average celebrity tales of weight loss, relationships and such like. He’s done it all, from being in a pop band to fronting a huge science show and he’s got a really academic background.
Ben travelled to Oldham to get a feel for Brian’s home town and spoke to his school friends and former colleagues. He also went to Switzerland to find out about Professor Cox’s role at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider.
Professor Cox, now a famous face as a TV presenter and a former pop band member with D:Ream, was awarded the OBE for services to science in 2010.
