Joe Royle: back in the manager’s dugout
JOE Royle will lead a team of Latics legends into battle with soap stars and singers in a game for the Shaw Blast Appeal at Boundary Park on Sunday.
The former Oldham Athletic boss will manage players from the past, including Andy Ritchie, Earl Barrett, David Eyres, Andy Goram, Mike Milligan, Matthew Tipton, Tony Ellis, Mike Flynn, Mark Innes, Dean Windass and Will Haining as well as current boss Paul Dickov, assistant manager Gerry Taggart and chairman Simon Corney.
They will take on a celebrity squad featuring “Emmerdale” actor Danny Miller (Aaron Livesey), “EastEnders” actors Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale), Tony Discipline (Tony Moon) and Matt Lapinskas (Anthony Moon) and footballers Owen Coyle (Bolton), Steve Watson (Newcastle, Aston Villa, Everton), Craig Hignett (Blackburn, Middlesbrough, England), Graham Alexander (Scotland), Neil Wainwright (Sunderland, Darlington) and Vincent Pericard (Juventus, Portsmouth).
Tickets for the game, which kicks off at 2.30pm, are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children or £10 for a family of four: you can pay at the gate.
The Shaw Blast Appeal, is helping victims of the explosion that killed two-year-old Jamie Heaton and made dozens of people homeless. More on the game at oldhamathletic.co.uk
