Next move in Royton revamp

OLDHAM Council will use compulsory purchase orders to make sure the £22.5million regeneration of Royton goes ahead.
Other owners and landlords could be forced to carry out improvements as part of the ambitious overhaul.
Developers Dransfield Properties and the council have been working since February to draw up regeneration proposals.
They have been negotiating with property owners but say that some are unwilling to agree.
The expected planning application by Dransfield will also include ideas to show how the opposite side of Rochdale Road could be improved.
Council leader Jim McMahon said: “This isn’t just about a precinct and building a supermarket. It’s about regenerating Royton. It’s a very significant investment.”
