Man on historic rape charges

A MAN has appeared at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court accused of raping a teenage girl 20 years ago.
Peter Fairhurst (60), of Barons Court, Failsworth, was charged with eight counts of rape and two indecent assaults between 1991 and 1994. The offences took place when the girl was aged between 14 and 16.
Mr Fairhurst offered no plea to the charges and will return to the city’s crown court on August 14 for a preliminary hearing. He was granted bail.
