Argumentative teacher guilty of misconduct
Date published: 01 August 2012
A TEACHER has been found guilty of professional misconduct after arguing with staff at Knowsley Junior School.
But Nargs Bibi was cleared of allegations that she disciplined two pupils, including one with autism, in an inappropriate manner and failed to follow management instructions.
A professional conduct panel heard Mrs Bibi joined the Stoneleigh school as a newly- qualified teacher in August, 2007. She was suspended twice in 2010 and dismissed that December after disciplinary proceedings.
Allegations of professional misconduct happened when she returned from maternity leave in January 2010. They included heckling, shouting and being aggressive towards head teacher Jane Goodwin and other teachers.
The panel concluded: “Mrs Bibi acted in an unprofessional manner toward colleagues, falling significantly short of the standard of behaviour expected of a teacher.”
Health issues and personal circumstances may have may have been a factor, the panel concluded, deciding not to ban her from teaching.
