Police arrest two after airgun attacks

Royton residents have been left reeling again after yet more airgun attacks on windows of houses, cars and bus shelters.
There have been 27 incidents since June 24, the first a damaged bus shelter in Middleton Road.
Since then 11 vehicles, nine windows, three houses and one business have been damaged by shots from the air rifle.
Two people, a 27-year-old man and 21-year-old woman, were arrested and an air gun seized on Monday night.
The pair have been bailed until September 12.
There has since been further speculation of shots being fired, including one woman who claims she, her daughter, a friend and friend’s dog were shot at on Tuesday night at around 9pm.
Det Insp Danny Inglis, of the Volume Crime Team, said: “A silver vehicle has been in the area at the time of some of the incidents. I would urge anyone with information about the car or its occupants to call us.We will continue to work with locals in order to ensure whoever is responsible is identified.”
