Motorists’ sign of confusion
Date published: 07 August 2012
A MISSING sign is adding to Oldham’s Metrolink road work misery for drivers.
No notice informs drivers if the bus lane heading into town on Huddersfield Road ( between Waterhead and Ripponden Road), is in force. The bus lane out of Oldham on Huddersfield Road does have a sign saying it has been suspended., as does Ripponden Road towards the town centre.
Councillor Brian Lord wants the confusion about the other bus lane rectified. “Most motorists play safe and drive down the the outer lane, with only a handful using the bus lane. At busy times this causes major tailbacks,” he said.
A council spokesman confirmed the bus lane has been suspended.
