Cricket club hit for six by costly break-in
Date published: 08 August 2012
DELPH and Dobcross Cricket Club has been left with a bill of almost £2,000 after being targeted by burglars.
The thieves broke in and smashed a door before stealing bottles of spirits and the float from a till.
A TV was left only because it couldn’t be taken down from the wall.
The burglar alarm was activated and later smashed during the break-in, at around 3.30am on Monday.
The incident went undiscovered until staff arrived for work later that day.
Les Harrison, groundsman and committee member at the Huddersfield Road club, said: “It is upsetting when things like this happen.”
Police are investigating.
