SPORTS-MAD Kyle Winterbottom: “a born leader both on and off the sports field”
THE parents of a Limeside teenager who died after plunging 40ft from a balcony have paid tribute to their sports-mad son.
Jimmy and Joanne Winterbottom told the Evening Chronicle exclusively how “blessed” they have been by the support they have received from their family and the wider community since their popular son Kyle (16), a “born leader and extremely loyal” died on Saturday night.
Kyle is believed he slipped from a balcony at Heywood House, on the Eldon Street Estate, Oldham, at around 2am on Saturday while at a party.
He died at the Royal Oldham Hospital from serious head injuries. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The family statement said: “We keep trying to hold on to the good times.
“Kyle was a beautiful boy, a loving son, a great brother, a proud uncle and such a loyal friend to everyone.
“He was a born leader both on and off the sports field.
Several groups have appeared on Facebook in memory of the former Hathershaw College pupil.
