SPORTS-MAD Kyle Winterbottom: “a born leader both on and off the sports field”
A CANDLELIGHT vigil is taking place at Limeside Park tomorrow in memory of tragic teenager Kyle Winterbottom.
The event is expected to be packed with friends, family and those wishing to pay their tributes to the promising sports youngster, who fell 40ft to his death from a balcony in Oldham, last Saturday.
Lanterns and balloons will be set off into the sky in Kyle’s memory.
Friend, Sam Higgins, said it will be a great way to celebrate the Limeside boy’s life, who he said “touched” so many people in Oldham.
Sam, said: “He was a very popular lad and I just can’t believe he has gone. We just want to give him a proper send-off. We have had t-shirts made with his name and face on.
“Kyle was just an energetic and all-round funny person.”
Kyle (16) died at Royal Oldham Hospital on Saturday after suffering serious head injuries in the fall at Heywood House, on the Eldon Street estate.
People are expected to gather at around 6pm at the park’s tennis courts.
