THE man detectives want to question over the Shaw explosion has been brought out of a medically-induced coma.

Andrew Partington (27), of Buckley Street, suffered severe burns during the blast on June 28.

Police say his condition has improved but he still isn’t fit enough to interview. They don’t expect to be able to speak to him until next week.

Officers believe Mr Partington could hold crucial evidence as to what happened that fatal morning as he was in his property when the explostion occurred

He was airlifted with 30 per cent burns to Wythenshawe Hospital.

Building work continues in Buckley Street at the heart of the blast, where some houses have been demolished and others are being repaired.

A 32-year-old maintenance man from Shaw, arrested following the blast, had his bail extended yesterday, pending further investigations.
