Oldham man’s role in heroin network

AN Oldham man has been found guilty of playing a part in a multi-million pound heroin network run from a Lancashire prison cell.

Asad Mahmood (39), of Wheeldale, Greenacres, appeared at Teesside Crown Court last week to be handed the verdict after a six-week trial.

The network was run by Imran Bashir, currently in HMP Garth, Lancashire. He made calls to his wife, Aliyah Bashir Khan, in Droylsden, who passed instructions to other gang members.

One of the men was caught after throwing £100,000 of heroin in a bag out of a minibus.
