Crews from all over Oldham were called to the Phoenix Tavern, on Charleston Street, in Hathershaw yesterday afternoon. and spent hours damping down the flames and smouldering timbers.
Hollins watch commander Paul Anderson said: “The fire is more than likely to have been caused deliberately. The fire investigation team and the police are working closely together.”
No one was injured by the blaze.
Anyone with information can call police on the non-emergency number, 101.
