Bakery staff reject strike over pay

A BALLOT by Park Cake employees has rejected industrial action over a pay dispute.
The Hathershaw bakery, which produces desserts, cakes and pastries for supermarkets, did not offer staff an expected pay review in March.
The majority of members of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) voted against a strike but instead will meet company bosses — who have agreed to respond to the pay review — next month.
Members will then be balloted on the company’s decision.
