Winnie’s last farewell
Date published: 23 August 2012
The funeral of Winnie Johnson, mother of moors murder victim Keith Bennett, will take place a week today.
The service will be held at 11am at St Chrysostom’s Church, Anson Road, Victoria Park, Manchester, where she was a parishioner, followed by a private burial.
Keith (12) was snatched on June 16, 1964, by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley as he walked to his grandmother’s house. He was killed and buried on Saddleworth Moor.
Mrs Johnson (78) died on Saturday without finding out where her son’s body is, despite trying for nearly 50 years.
