Maths whizz-kid makes grade at 11

Whizz-kid Waqaar Mahmood was only 10 when he took a GCSE in maths.
Yesterday Waqaar, now 11 and a former pupil of Clarksfield primary school, managed to achieve a C-grade.
The youngster was tutored after school by Neelam Aqil (27), a chartered accountant, who set up A-Star Tuition three years ago while looking after her children.
Waqaar, of Yorkdale, Clarksfield, showed potential when he took a mock intermediate GCSE exam paper and correctly answered all the questions.
Neelam, based in Clarksfield, said: “I was quite shocked when I found out he got all the answers right. It was unbelievable. He has done really well and he was only a few marks off a B grade.”
Waaqar’s mother, Robina Mahmood, added: “I am so proud of him — it is great news. He has worked hard. I think it’s a great idea for him to get GCSE’s at an early age .”
