GCSE Results: GIRL power reigned supreme at Failsworth School as this talented trio celebrated some impressive results.
A record 57 per cent of students gained five GCSE A*-C grades including English and maths — an increase of 10 per cent from last year.
And 96 per cent achieved five A*-C passes — a 6 per cent increase on the 2011 total. More than a quarter of pupils — 28 per cent — scooped at least three A* or A grades, much more than the target of 16 per cent.
Straight-A student Danielle Coucher was delighted with her three A*s and seven As.
She will do A-levels in maths, further maths, physics, ancient history and archaeology at Oldham Sixth Form College.
Charlotte Donnelly achieved eight A*s, two As and five Cs and will study a psychology A-level and health and social care at Oldham Sixth Form College with the hope of one day becoming a child psychologist.
Hannah Turnbull, who scooped five A*s, six As, a B and a C, said: “My mum cried when I told her what I’d got.
“I worked really hard so it’s nice that it was all worth it.”
Head teacher John Meagher said: “I am incredibly proud of their achievements and of the dedication of the staff.”
