Park is jumping for inflatable wonder

THE ancient monument of Stonehenge has bounced its way to Oldham — but just for today.
But rather than moving the ancient stone circle from Salisbury Plain, this Stonehenge is a huge inflatable model of the man-made wonder, 115ft across and capable of holding 150 people at a time.
The work of rubberised art — called “Sacrilege” — is the ancient artifact equivalent of a bouncy castle, created by Turner prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and parat of the arts events associated with the Olympics.
The inflatable was being installed at Alexandra Park this morning and is free to all ages until 6pm.
Oldham is its only stop in Greater Manchester, on a national tour.
Mr Deller said: “A lot of my work deals with history, and ‘Sacrilege’ is no exception, this is a way to get reacquainted with ancient Britain with your shoes off.”
