AGE UK Oldham has been shortlisted for a National Diversity Award for its work in local schools to foster relations between the young and the old.
On a shortlist of three for a community organisation award, the trio was whittled out from thousands of nominations.
The recognition is for Age UK Oldham’s “intergenerational” work in schools over the last 12 years, which have seen people from an older generation invited in to talk to pupils about their early lives.
A delighted Maggie Hurley, from Age UK Oldham, said the scheme gave old and young a chance to develop meaningful relationships with each other.
The winners will be announced on September 21 at a glittering National Diversity Awards ceremony.
Big Brother presenter Brian Dowling will be the host at Manchester’s Midland Hotel.
