PUPILS at Royton and Crompton celebrate their success
GCSE RESULTS: THERE was double success for a mother and daughter team who both made the grade.
Kimberley Riley (16) received outstanding results from Royton and Crompton School,.
And mum, Leah, picked up passes in maths and English - giving her the qualifications she needs for a job in nursing.
Kimberley, who achieved a B and seven C grades, said: “It’s been nice because we’ve both been studying and revising together.
“We’ve both worked really hard and we’ve definitely encouraged each other along.”
The Blackshaw Lane school also celebrated the success of its other pupils, who achieved more A* and A grades than any other year in the school’s history.
Overall, pupils achieved an A*-C pass rate of 87 per cent, or 45 per cent including maths and English.
Other pupils left overjoyed with their results included 15-year-old Ellie Crossley, who sat her exams a year early — and still came out with top grades.
